Friday, September 20, 2013

A new economic development firm has evolved from BBP.

Bennett Benner Pettit and David Pettit have announced the formation of David Pettit Economic Development, LLC.

“I am pleased to be starting my own firm and building upon the successes we have had here at BBP,” Pettit said. “We have been fortunate to be a part of many dynamic and exciting projects.”

The new venture is the result of a study conducted by the firm to expand the focus of Pettit’s economic development consulting services to a broader range of clientele.

Pettit will transition out of his current role with BBP over the coming months and into his new firm, while continuing to collaborate with BBP on numerous current and future projects. Bennett Benner Pettit will transition the firm name to Bennett Benner Partners to reflect the new structure.

“We are very excited for David as he starts this new venture and are grateful for his leadership, hard work and expertise during his time at BBP,” said BBP Principal and CEO Michael Bennett. “We will continue to collaborate with him going forward and wish him the best in this next chapter of his career,” said BBP Principal and President J. Bruce Benner.

Pettit has been with BBP for more than 10 years and has helped facilitate projects such as The Tower, Montgomery Plaza, One City Plaza, Trinity Bluff, La Gran Plaza, West 7th, Acme Brick Headquarters, Midtown and Klein Tools relocation to Mansfield, Texas.

He has worked as a consultant for numerous public and private clients addressing a wide scope of economic development and real estate matters. His work includes the creation and modification of tax increment reinvestment zones and public improvement districts.

“This move gives me the opportunity to expand the economic development aspects of the business into other areas and industries,” Pettit said.

Pettit earned his baccalaureate degree from Texas Tech University and his Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Texas. He previously worked for the City of Dallas, City of San Antonio and Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. David Pettit Economic Development, LLC. will be located at the Fort Worth Club at 306 West 7th Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102 and online at www.dpedllc.com.
